1985: Sacred Oil

The Soviet offensive in the Persian Gulf, 1985. This operational wargame covers a conflict beginning between the Soviet Union, Iran, and Iraq before expanding to the United States, Arab states, NATO, and the Warsaw Pact. Players manage mobilization, diplomacy, logistics, air and naval operations, and ground combat across Southwest Asia and global lines of communication. Forces are not fixed in advance, with strategic decisions shaping each side’s order of battle and the risk of wider escalation. Six scenarios range from limited operations to a full Persian Gulf and global campaign, with rules for special forces, electronic warfare, air defense, ships, submarines, and modern combined-arms tactics.
