Background Levels

This 33-page PDF adds mechanical depth to character backgrounds, allowing a character’s past to influence play beyond a few skills. It presents 14 backgrounds, including beggar, soldier, criminal, scholar, craftsman’s apprentice, merchant, sailor, and aristocrat. Characters gain background levels that reflect their upbringing and former occupations, affecting aspects such as abilities and starting resources. A character can also return to their roots and advance in their background over the course of play.
