Dien Bien Phu: The Final Gamble

A detailed two-player simulation of the 1954 siege at a remote valley strongpoint, pitting French colonial forces against the Viet Minh. Players maneuver battalions and companies across a hex map divided into sectors and trench zones, manage artillery bombardments, and conduct repeated assaults using a sequence of defensive and offensive die rolls that model aborted attacks and shaken units. Logistics and morale are central: the French depend on uncertain airlifted supplies and truck transport, while the Viet Minh rely on steadier but limited ammunition and a large replacement pool that degrades unit morale over time. Play unfolds over multi-day turns with off-map artillery, supply charts, and tightly contested assaults determining surrender or survival.
