You must pay the play cost and then place the fish in the indicated zone or dive site on the board as shown on the card and board layout; placement and any zone restrictions are resolved as part of playing the card. (Rulebook p.4)

A “When played” ability triggers at the time you play the card and is resolved as part of the play action; consuming fish and other separate actions are handled according to their own rules and do not retroactively change that trigger. (Rulebook p.5)

You choose an eligible dive site, then follow the Dive steps in order: check zone bonuses, move your diver, resolve the site’s bottom bonuses and any site effects — zone and bottom bonuses apply as listed on the board and card. (Rulebook p.6)

School tokens mark grouped fish on the ocean mat and are managed by the school rules, while discarded cards go to your personal discard pile unless a specific ability or schooling rule moves them elsewhere; treat schools and personal discards as separate game areas. (Rulebook p.9)

At the end of each week you perform the end-of-week scoring steps listed in order, and after the final week you follow the end-of-game scoring sequence to resolve any remaining scoring categories and totals; the rulebook gives the step-by-step order and an example. (Rulebook p.8)
