Pavia: Climax of the Italian Wars

This simulation covers the Battle of Pavia, the climactic clash of the Italian Wars between Valois France and Habsburg Spain. Players command early pike-and-shot armies made up of pike formations, musketeers, heavy and light cavalry, dragoons, mercenaries, and artillery across broken, wooded terrain. The system reflects the period’s developing tactics and weapons. Infantry formations combine pikes with attached firearms, independent musketeers skirmish but remain vulnerable, cavalry delivers shock attacks or pursues retreating units, and dragoons seize key positions on foot or horseback. Artillery provides firepower but is generally slow and difficult to move.
