1066: Year of Destiny

Historical claimants vie for the crown of England following the death of Edward the Confessor. Players take the roles of Harald Hardrada, Harold Godwinson, or William of Normandy across political intrigue, invasion, operational campaigning, and battlefield combat. Players build legitimacy through alliances, events, territorial control, and battles while managing troop movement, supply, seasonal pressures, and risky sea crossings. Combat takes place on a separate battle board, with pursuit and defeat causing significant losses and shifts in legitimacy. A player whose invasion fails may instead support Sweyn of Denmark, while an automated Danish invasion can threaten an inadequately defended London.
