Glorantha: The Gods War

Players command rival empires in an epic, mythic struggle across a shared world map. Each empire summons units (minions, heroes, lesser gods and typically a greater god), constructs buildings (shrines, temples, ziggurats and faction-specific structures), pursues Heroquests to earn gifts, and collects runes that grant special effects. Gameplay proceeds in rounds of action and council phases: players spend power generated by buildings and achieved quests to recruit, move and fight; resolve battles to kill units and capture or destroy enemy buildings; and make council decisions such as attempting to close a world-threatening rift or enact the Great Compromise. Each empire has distinct units, abilities and objectives, and victory is scored by buildings controlled, paired Heroquests, runes and outcomes of council events.
