Second Kharkov: Strike & Counterstrike, May 1942

A low-complexity, two-player wargame covering the Second Battle of Kharkov on the Eastern Front in May 1942. The Soviet player begins with an offensive, while the German side builds toward a major counterattack. The game includes a historical scenario and an alternative scenario giving the Soviets additional reserve divisions and tank brigades. Players move division- and brigade-sized units across a map where each hex represents five miles and each turn covers two days. Combat, air interdiction, close air support, fog of war, Soviet armor doctrine, untried units, and German inter-army cooperation shape the battle. Games take approximately four to six hours.
