As the mayor of a frontier town, players recruit citizens, heroes, buildings, and challenges from a shared card pool while preparing their settlements for danger. Each round includes phases for recruitment, defending against challenges, resolving raids, earning money, and expanding the town. Players spend their resources to hire help and construct buildings, balancing protection, development, and scoring opportunities. The game includes basic and advanced rules, with additional powers and scoring options in the advanced version. Play continues until a town reaches the required size, then settlements are scored across several features.
