District Commander Binh Dinh: Vietnam 1969

An operational counterinsurgency game set in the jungles of Vietnam in 1969, during the Government’s shift from pitched battles toward population security and pacification. Government and Insurgent forces pursue secret, randomly assigned objectives that may change during play, using distinct capabilities such as Agent Orange, the Phoenix Program, and the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Players alternate activating stacks of units to perform tactical missions, including patrols, ambushes, attacks, and movement, or longer non-tactical missions involving influence, control, infrastructure, recruitment, and training. Missions are resolved by simultaneously playing secretly held Chance Chits, with outcomes modified by units, assets, and the board state. Bluffing, deception, and optional rules support different approaches to counterinsurgency operations.
