Miseries & Misfortunes Book 1: Roleplaying in 1648 & Book 2: Les Fruits Malheureux

A historical roleplaying game set in France in 1648, during the final years of the Thirty Years’ War. Players portray poor and untested characters navigating political unrest, religious conflict, taxation, and the growing threat of revolt. They may serve the Cardinal, oppose the crown as Frondeurs, or pursue profit as merchant adventurers. The rules build on early fantasy roleplaying foundations with lifepaths, skills, social combat, and an ongoing search for truth. The revised edition includes rules for historical and fictional situations, along with character creation focused on unhappy and unlucky lives.
