Redvers' Reverse: The Battle of Colenso, 1899

Can you command the British forces across the Thukela River and open the road to Ladysmith? This solitaire area-movement game recreates the Battle of Colenso, with the Boer commandos controlled by the game system. Players issue orders from headquarters to brigade and divisional commanders, direct infantry, cavalry, and artillery, and manage uncertain responses as units advance through difficult terrain and entrenched opposition. Combat uses ten-sided dice with modifiers for terrain, entrenchments, unit density, and flanking fire. Units may become disrupted, suppressed, or routed, while leaders can stand firm or panic. British success depends on crossing in time, limiting Boer confidence, and inflicting enough losses to force a withdrawal.
