The Campaigns of King David: The Biblical Struggle for the Near East

Players guide the nations of the ancient Near East through the 35-year struggle for control of the Fertile Crescent during the reign of Judah’s King David. Economic management, diplomacy, and military operations combine as leaders command chariots, phalanxes, and militia across a map of the region. Each game lasts seven turns, with resources used to maintain armies, obtain food, build and re-equip units, fortify cities, and conduct campaigns. Twelve action phases occur each turn, selected from a pool of chits; the first six are revealed, while the remaining actions remain uncertain. Two to five players pursue nation-specific victory conditions based on control of key cities.
