Batavia

Players act as 17th–18th century merchants visiting the trading posts of five European East India companies across Asia. Each company’s station supplies a distinct good, and merchants acquire goods by securing the corresponding ship cards to travel to those ports. Each round, ship cards are distributed through an auction system in which the highest bidder takes all offered cards but shares the paid amount evenly among the other players. Players plan routes, manage funds, and collect sets of valuable goods to sell for endgame scoring. The game emphasizes timing of auctions, route selection, and income distribution to maximize profit from the most lucrative trading posts.

1st Impressions: A harmless and adequate auction game. A little fiddly for what it is...but a fine game to play nonetheless . Nothing exceptional or new about it when discovering it in 2020 though (it is 2008 design).
