A Splendid Little War: The 1898 Santiago Campaign

Rough Riders, Guerrillas, Gatling Guns, US Observation Balloon, Engineers, and more feature in a simulation of the 1898 Santiago campaign. Players command US, Cuban, and Spanish forces represented mainly by regiments and battalions. US regiments can break down into smaller units to trade strength for movement and absorb combat losses, while Spanish fortifications, a relief column, and Yellow Fever threaten the US advance. Three scenarios cover El Caney, San Juan Hill, and the combined first day of the campaign. A campaign game spans the full 14 days from the US attack on July 1 to the Spanish surrender on July 14.
