Diplomacy

Players represent the great powers of pre–World War I Europe and vie for control of supply centers on a map of the continent. Play proceeds in alternating Spring and Autumn turns; players secretly write orders for their armies and fleets to move, hold, or give support, then reveal and resolve them simultaneously. Outcomes depend on unit strength and support; there is no dice or random element. Negotiation, alliances, and written orders drive play as players make and break deals to expand borders, defend positions, and capture supply centers to increase their forces.
