2012 · Abstract Strategy
Okiya
Players take turns removing tiles from a 4×4 grid and placing their personal tokens on the emptied spaces. Each tile shows one of four vegetation motifs and one of four poetic symbols; the tile just removed restricts the next player’s available border choices to those that share either motif or symbol. Play ends when a player lines up four tokens in a row, assembles a 2×2 square of their tokens, or selects a tile that prevents the opponent from placing a token. Games can be scored by remaining tiles for match play or resolved as single rounds.
