Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization
Players guide a civilization from antiquity to the modern age, developing technologies, electing leaders, constructing buildings and wonders, and managing food, resources and population. Cards for technologies, wonders and leaders enter a shared draft row where they become easier to acquire over time; acquiring and activating cards requires balancing science, food and ore. Military strength is built via cards like civilian structures and affects opponents through raids that can steal resources, kill leaders, take population or culture, though there is no territorial map. The player with the most culture at the end of the modern age wins.

Garfield8.0 #31 Never play it with 4 player! Takes way too long. Beside that it's a very interesting civ game. Carlos7.0 Good, but interaction in 2p game is almost insignificant. Liked the era's system.

Rules questions
Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.
Can I build or develop anything on my first turn?
No. On your first turn, you may only take cards from the card row; a wonder you take goes into play as unfinished. (Code of Laws, p. 5.)
Does taking a technology mean I can use it right away?
No. Taking a technology puts it in your hand; to use it, you must later spend 1 civil action and pay its science cost to develop it. Farm, mine, urban-building, and military-unit technologies also need workers to produce their effects. (Rulebook, pp. 9, 12.)
How much does it cost to increase my population?
It costs 1 civil action and the food amount shown under the rightmost occupied section of your yellow bank. Move that section’s rightmost yellow token to your worker pool; food is paid by moving blue tokens back to your blue bank. (Code of Laws, p. 5; Rulebook, p. 9.)
Can I take a wonder if my civil-card hand is full?
Yes. A wonder goes directly into play rather than into your hand, but you cannot take one while you already have an unfinished wonder. Its action cost includes an extra civil action for each wonder you have completed. (Code of Laws, p. 5.)
When do I draw military cards, and can I end up with more than my limit?
At the end of your turn, draw one card for each available military action, up to three cards. You first discard down to your military-action limit, but the draw can put you over that limit; you discard excess again at the end of a later turn. (Rulebook, p. 6.)
Do I produce food and resources before paying consumption and corruption?
Corruption is paid first, then you produce food, pay food consumption, and produce resources. If you cannot cover all your corruption with resources, make up the difference with food; unpaid consumption costs 4 culture per missing food. (Rulebook, p. 6.)
