Ultimate Railroads

Players build and upgrade railway networks across multiple regions, placing workers to take actions that lay track, modernize engines, and develop factories. Tracks connect cities and resources while newer locomotives and factory upgrades increase movement range and production efficiency. Engineers and special promo items provide tactical boosts and new action options. The box compiles the base game with multiple regional expansions and additional modules, and adds a new Asian map and a solo variant, allowing competitive or solo play with a wide range of strategic paths to victory.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Can I 'leapfrog' over another player's track when I extend mine?

No — tracks can only be moved onto empty spaces; you cannot leapfrog or share a space with another track (p.9).

If I split my track movement between routes, do both branches count toward scoring?

You may split a track-extension action freely between your routes (p.8–9), but at scoring you only count spaces that your locomotives can reach; each track scores for its space and any empty spaces behind it treated as that track's color (p.20).

Are there limits on where I can place locomotives?

You must take the lowest-numbered locomotive available and add it to one of your three routes (Trans‑Siberian may hold 2, St. Petersburg and Kyiv at most 1 each), and you may only add a locomotive to an empty slot or by upgrading a lower-numbered one (p.10–11).

How do the 2 temporary (turquoise) workers work — can I use them immediately or keep them next round?

When you take the two temporary workers you cannot use them to resolve the action you just took, but you may use them during that same round as if they were your own workers; you must return them to the action space at the end of the round and cannot keep them for the next round (p.15).

How is the industry (wrench) scored if my wrench is on a factory space?

You score the points shown on the industry track space your wrench is on; if that space shows no points (for example a factory), you score the points printed on the previous space instead (p.21).
