Pacific Islands Campaign: Saipan/Tinian

A simulation of the U.S. recapture of Saipan and Tinian from Japan during the Second World War, combining operational maneuver with tactical combat. Turns include amphibious landings, movement, and combat, with U.S. Marine, Army, and Navy units opposing Japanese forces at battalion, company, and platoon levels. Players manage maneuver, fire support, mobility, survivability, air defense, and command and control while breaking units down into smaller formations and applying combat modifiers. Japanese forces can launch powerful nighttime Banzai attacks, while victory is measured by the time and casualties required to achieve the historical objectives. Scenarios cover the recapture of both islands and actions such as Death Valley, with optional forces and artillery rules. Four maps and approximately 900 counters are included.
