Sparta

Set in 228 B.C., this abstract strategy game depicts a struggle between Spartan and Achaean forces. Players move fighters across a 10×10 grid to capture opposing cities and avoid having their pieces trapped between enemy pieces along horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines. Fighters move up to two squares per turn and become heroes when they end a turn in one of their own cities, increasing their movement range. The game ends when one player controls all cities, reduces the opponent to one piece, or controls the most cities when both sides have only one or two pieces remaining.
