Königsberg: The Soviet Attack on East Prussia, 1945

A tactical-operational simulation of the January 1945 Soviet offensive into East Prussia, recreating the actions of the 2nd and 3rd Belorussian Fronts against elements of Army Group Center. Players manage corps- and army-level formations represented by activation chits; each side has a limited number of activations per turn and activation draws create uncertainty about when units will move or fight. Turns represent two-day intervals on a 5-mile hex map, and units range from kampfgruppe to corps. The Soviets field a mobile but logistically stretched offensive subject to random events that can ground air support or delay formations, while German forces absorb heavy attrition and must prioritize moves to block key cities. Solo play is supported; games typically run 4–10 hours.
