Armies and leaders move across a map, fight battles using block units that provide fog-of-war and morale effects, and contest key regions and strongholds. Political and military actions intertwine: players recruit and maneuver nobles, stage campaigns, and resolve pivotal confrontations while managing leadership, attrition, and shifting loyalties. The system emphasizes command decisions, attrition, and the impact of prominent historical figures on the campaign.
