Succession: Intrigue in the Royal Court

As the aging king prepares to choose a successor from five candidates, players act as courtiers seeking influence from behind the throne. They manipulate the king’s opinions through gossip, reports, intrigue, and claims of credit or blame, while also managing their relationships with the candidates. Players bluff, negotiate, and make deals involving gold, cards, and promises of future actions. Careful resource management and choosing when to intervene or let opponents oppose each other determine who becomes the power behind the throne. A game typically lasts one to two hours.
