Tesauro

Players belong to a secret society of scholars vying to lead the compilation of a new thesaurus by inventing or recalling definitions. Each round one player acts as the sage who selects a word from a dictionary card, while the others secretly receive scholar roles that determine whether they must give the correct definition or invent a plausible fake one. In turn order players state a definition matching an assigned category, trying either to trick the sage or to reproduce the true definition. The sage then selects the definition they believe is correct (or rejects all). Cards are claimed by the sage or by the player whose fake was chosen; play passes clockwise and continues for a set number of rounds. The player with the most word cards at the end wins and becomes the society’s director.
