Draftosaurus

Players build a dinosaur park by drafting colorful dino meeples and placing them into pens on their personal board. Each pen has placement rules and scoring conditions, so players choose which species to take and where to put them to maximize visitors. On each turn a player rolls a die to set a constraint that modifies where other players may place their dinos, then everyone simultaneously selects and drops a meeple from the handful they hold. Play is quick and light, focusing on spatial placement and drafting decisions rather than tableau management or complex planning.

Post from our Instagram (final post) with many pics. Visit our account for nice pics and short boardgame reviews (2100 car), thanks ! ENGLISH - Gorgeous little roll&write mutated to draft and place game. Draw 6 dinos, roll the dice : all players will follow a constraint except active player. Put 1 dino in a pen according pen’s rules, draft the others, new player rolls dice and so on. 2 rounds, 12 dinos and that’s all, scoring time ! Fast, simple but with a bit of thinking for each dino, its since we all play simultaneously ! Visually really attractive it’s a 15 minutes game to play with friends/children. Luck is present but some control is present too since you can estimate colors remaining overall. A nice present idea !

#11 Very nice little family game. The dice should have been made with colors for better readability.

Do I have to obey the placement die when I'm the one who rolled it?

No — only the other players must obey the die's condition; the player who rolled the die is exempt. (p.4, p.2)

Can I put a dinosaur in the River if I can't or don't want to place it in a Pen?

Yes — if you cannot or do not want to place a dinosaur in a Pen you may always place it in the River, which is not treated as a Pen and scores 1 point per dinosaur at game end. (p.2, p.3)

For the Forest of Sameness and the Meadow of Differences, do dinosaurs have to be placed left-to-right with no gaps?

Yes — both Pens must be filled from left to right with no gaps: the Forest requires all dinosaurs be the same species, the Meadow requires all dinosaurs be different species. (p.3)

How does T‑Rex scoring work — do multiple T‑Rexes give multiple points?

Each Pen that contains at least one T‑Rex gives +1 point; a Pen with more than one T‑Rex still only gives 1 extra point. (p.3)

How many dinosaurs do we draw each round and how many rounds are played?

The game is played in two rounds of six turns; at the start of each round every player draws six dinosaurs and, after two rounds, each player will have twelve dinosaurs in their Zoo. (p.2)

What's different in the two-player variant?

A two-player game uses four rounds (so each player ends with twelve dinosaurs), players draw six but only place three each round, the die condition applies only to the player who did not roll the die, and during each round you also choose a dinosaur to return to the box before trading hands. (p.5)
