Players take the role of Mission Directors competing to establish the first colony on Mars. They build the modules required for a settlement while sourcing parts from their own operations to increase profitability. Using personal decks and tableaus, players simultaneously add cards to public modules in the center of the table. Anyone can start or expand these modules, so completed units must be claimed before opponents take them. Finished modules join a player’s colony and score at the end of the round, unless they are sabotaged. The first player to reach the agreed point total wins.
