SOE: Lysander

A solitaire, narrative-style air war game about secret SOE flights during World War 2. As a pilot in RAF 161 Squadron, players fly a Westland Lysander across the Channel and occupied France, transporting agents, wireless operators, and other passengers to and from clandestine landing zones. Operations begin in April 1943 and continue until just before D-Day. Players navigate at night, evade flak, patrols, small-arms fire, night fighters, and Gestapo detection, while keeping underground French Resistance circuits supplied. The game uses straightforward rules, a small table footprint, and book-based play.
