Ten Candles
Players portray survivors in a sunless apocalypse during a single, self-contained session that lasts a few hours. The group collaboratively tells a tragic story as characters spend their last hours holding onto light while an unseen adversary creeps at the edges. A gamemaster manages threats and sets scenes while players describe actions, make limited dice-driven checks, and react to worsening conditions as candles are extinguished. The mechanics enforce increasing tension and irreversible loss, focusing play on character choices, interpersonal dynamics, and the emotional arc of a doomed scenario.
