Aeon Trespass: Odyssey

Players take on the roles of a band of Argonauts in an alternate Antiquity, exploring dangerous lands, uncovering mysteries and developing a home base over a linked campaign. They recruit allies, build facilities, craft weapons and manage resources while pursuing story-driven objectives that alter future sessions. Combat pits the players against single, giant Primordial bosses using cooperative tactics: players pilot, arm and evolve massive Titans to ride into battle, while an AI-driven system controls the enemy. Campaign decisions are tracked by choice-chain and choice-matrix mechanics, and victory comes from defeating the main villains or resolving the central crisis.

Not a game for me. Too much reading between actual game segments. Still prefer KDM over this. The exploration element with the tiles is really fiddly as you need a separate table if you dont want to spend a ton of time creating the map all the time. On the plus side, this one has some fun ways to mitigate luck to some degree with the use of tokens. I also like that the fights become more deadly the more damaged you and the boss get.

What does it mean when a card says "instead" or "may" — do I have to follow it or can I choose differently?

An "instead" effect replaces the normal action and must be used when applicable, while a "may" effect is optional and the player chooses whether to apply it; precedence and resolution order rules determine which effects apply first (see p.8).

When I draw an Exploration/Encounter card, what order do I resolve things and when do triggers happen?

Resolve an Exploration draw in the card's printed order: reveal the card, follow the resolve steps on it, and apply triggers as listed — card text and listed triggers determine timing (see p.16).

How do I build my Power Pool for an attack, and are there limits or upgrades to power dice?

You add the dice specified by the attacker (Titan/gear/etc.) to form the Power Pool, observing the power die tier upgrade rules and the overall die limit so you substitute higher-tier dice instead of exceeding limits (see pp.51–52).

How do Primordials choose targets — what are Priority Target and Line of Sight rules?

Primordials draw AI cards and resolve targeting lines using Priority Target rules and Line of Sight diagrams: a Priority Target overrides other targets when specified, and attacks must follow the listed LOS/targeting instructions on the AI card (see pp.38–41).

If an Argonaut is killed in battle, are they gone forever or can they be saved/retired?

Death and retirement follow the Argonaut rules: an Argonaut who dies is removed and may cause permanent loss unless specific mercy or save options are used; campaign-level save tests and Mercy Rule timings can affect outcomes (see pp.11 and 25).

What is escalation and how do wounded BP cards change BP/AI decks and Primordial bonuses?

Escalation occurs as wound stacks build: wounded BP cards modify how many and which BP/AI cards are used and grant Primordials bonuses according to the escalation chart, changing deck handling and enemy effects (see pp.53–54).
