X Marks the Spot

Players take the role of pirates competing to place three of their doubloons on a shared grid. Each player has a secret pirate icon and plays cards to build the grid, matching pirate icons while using ghost ships as wilds, open water, and krakens that require specific ways to remove or cover them. On each turn, players draw two cards and play two, with some cards allowing actions such as firing a cannon or plundering an opponent. Whenever an X forms around a player’s secret icon, connected orthogonally or diagonally, that player marks its center with a doubloon. The first player to place all three doubloons wins.
