1883: Building Railroads in Northern Italy

A railway game set in Northern Italy during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Players invest in and operate corporations, build track, run trains, manage treasuries, and compete for control and profit. Corporations can raise funds by issuing shares, respond to random events through political support, and earn bonuses from government-concession connections. A bus company operates its own network, while a cooperative corporation changes hands among players. Companies may merge by agreement, and inexpensive “gravity trains” can use existing track for additional income but risk breaking down or being lost. Share prices rise only when dividends meet or exceed the current share price.
