Players invest in and operate railway companies across Great Britain, buying and selling shares, building track, and running trains to generate company income and personal wealth. Companies are randomly grouped into two tiers at setup, creating different map development each play. Share ownership can reach 100% for ten-share companies, and any number of shares — including the director’s certificate — may be sold to the market; each sale lowers that company’s stock price, while strong income can move the price up several steps. The number of companies and game length scale with player count, with quicker two-player scenarios and longer, more complex games with more players. The game uses a mix of city tiles with special upgrade rules that add engineering and planning challenges to route building.
