Autumn For Barbarossa

A tactical-operational simulation of the struggle for Smolensk in late summer 1941, covering the close of Barbarossa’s opening phase and the lead-up to Operation Typhoon. Players command German and Soviet forces on a small map with regiment-to-division units and six-day turns. The German side fields strong mechanized and air assets and must seize victory-point locations quickly before a trigger (the “Hitler Roll”) removes mechanized formations and sharply reduces air support. The Soviet player conducts delaying actions, withdrawals, and conservation of forces early, then builds to a counteroffensive once German strength wanes. The game runs ten turns and supports fast or competitive play, with high solitaire playability.
