In the time before time, the Great Spirit Mata Nui brings the Matoran to the island of Mata Nui and gives them the virtues of Duty, Unity, and Destiny. His jealous brother, Makuta, casts a spell that puts Mata Nui into a deep slumber and unleashes shadows across the island. Players take part in the struggle surrounding the Matoran, the Great Spirit, and the forces threatening their home.
