Students and professors at Miskatonic University investigate supernatural threats while one player secretly serves a dark cult. The Academics must complete scenario objectives before the Cultist advances a hidden agenda, kills the other players, and summons a monstrous ally. Each round, players draw location-based Event cards, resolve push-your-luck ability checks, and take two actions such as moving, fighting, searching, trading, or using items. During the University Phase, monsters move and a University card worsens the situation. Modular boards, multiple scenarios, varied characters, and secret Cultist objectives create different investigations and betrayals.
