Dojo Kun

Players lead one of four dojos through two seasons of training, recruitment and expansion in a mystical martial arts setting. Each season consists of preparation turns using worker-placement actions to manage facilities, buy training machines, recruit athletes and send trainees on adventures. Athletes can visit ancient masters to learn special techniques and increase their experience (Dan). Each season culminates in a tournament where up to two athletes per dojo compete; neutral “Skull” athletes fill empty slots. Matches resolve with custom dice tied to fighting techniques, and non-participating players may bet on outcomes to gain prestige. The player with the most Prestige Points after the second season wins.

Worker Placement with a funny Dice Rolling combat phase. I really like the theme because it's a tribute to some of the most famous fighters of real life and fiction. The game is not well balanced but if you don't take it too seriously you can have fun with it.
