Nemesis: Carnomorphs

A sci‑fi survival game about parasitic XNA organisms that recombine biomass and evolve into ever more dangerous forms. Players take on crew roles aboard a damaged starship and manage exploration, combat, and emergency actions as larvae appear, escape, and progress through Shambler and Fleshbeast stages. Encounters spawn variable numbers of larvae that can inflict light wounds and flee, potentially seeding stronger enemies; players can burn corpses or pursue kills to prevent evolution. Gameplay emphasizes tight resource and risk management, tactical combat to eliminate threats thoroughly, and handling mutation cards that impose cinematic penalties or tradeoffs while racing to complete objectives before the ship is lost.

Regelspørgsmål

Besvaret ud fra regelbogen af Ludoyas regelassistent.

How do Mutations and Mutation markers work — do they replace Larvae and how do I get them?

Carnomorphs replace Larvae: when instructed you draw 2 Character Mutation cards, choose 1 and keep it face‑down; Mutation markers are gained by using the Mutation Action or by INFECTED Contamination results, and at 4 Mutation markers the Character dies. Mutation cards can be removed (e.g., Surgery or Antidote) but markers remain on the board; see page 4.

If I'm attacked by a Metagorger, do I resolve a normal Intruder Attack card?

No — a Metagorger attack gives you a Character Mutation card, a Contamination card and 1 Light Wound, you add a Shambler token to the Intruder bag and remove the Metagorger miniature; if you already have a Mutation card you only get the Contamination and Light Wound but the Shambler token is still added (page 5).

When do Carnomorphs Feed and what happens when they Feed (evolve/eat)?

During the Intruder Attack step Carnomorphs Feed when in Combat or whenever they share a Room with a Heavy Object and/or a Metagorger; Feeding resolves Heal → Evolve (Metagorger→Shambler→Fleshbeast→Butcher) → Eat (remove the Heavy Object/Metagorger), using the priority orders listed; see page 6 for full steps and priorities.

Can the Butcher move through or fit into Technical Corridors?

No — the Butcher cannot fit into any Technical Corridors entrance; if it would move into Technical Corridors it stays in the Room instead (page 5; note reiterated on page 7).

When the rules tell me to add Metagorger tokens to the Intruder bag, should I add red or blue tokens?

Always add Red Metagorger tokens first whenever the game asks you to add Metagorger tokens (only use Blue Metagorger tokens when you run out of Reds); this is reiterated in the Metagorger symbol notes and Intruder Bag rules (pages 5–7).

How does the end‑of‑game Contamination check interact with having a Mutation card or markers?

If you have a Mutation card you skip the normal scan (step A) and instead shuffle all your cards, draw 4 and gain 1 Mutation marker for each Contamination card drawn (4 markers = death); if you don't have a Mutation card you scan all Contamination cards and gain a Mutation card if any show INFECTED (page 7).
