Planet Steam

Players take the roles of entrepreneurs on a newly colonized, steam‑venting planet, placing platforms over 42 shafts to capture hot steam and build extraction infrastructure. They deploy tanks, converters and specialists to process steam into water, energy, ore and quartz, expand landing craft capacity, and claim plots of land to develop resource operations. Harvested materials are traded on a fluctuating market where players buy and sell to raise income; strategy centers on timing, resource management and securing key specialists to maximize profit.

Great economic game with a resource market entirely moved by players. The market is very dynamic but the game is extremely self balanced as well. Quite a rarity Works best at 4 (or 5?), decently at 3p, turns are faster and less downtime, but less dynamic markets

This is an economic game where you produce resources and then use them to upgrade your production or storage engines or sell them at a fluctuating market. The game looks short, in that you only get a few actions to do what you need to, but the rounds have lots of phases, so the game seems to progress very slowly. It's not a bad game. Certainly the way things produce is interesting, where you are aiming to set up chains of your tanks, and trying to time the market is pretty fun as well. The problem is just that there's nothing about this game that I would say really makes it stand out, in the face of the long playtime. :star: Art and components :nostar: Innovative mechanics :star: Handles 5 or more players :star: Good with different player counts :nostar: Low time between turns :star: Comfortable complexity :nostar: Re-playability :star::nostar::nostar: Enjoyment
