Players attempt to establish or prevent the Reformation in the Holy Roman Empire. One player represents the Protestant movement, while the other defends the Roman Catholic Church and its response. The two players contest control of the Empire’s Imperial Circles, reflecting the religious and political conflicts surrounding the spread of Protestant ideas and the Catholic Counter-Reformation.
