Terraforming Mars: Utopia & Cimmeria
Two new double-sided maps for the Mars terraforming game, each offering a distinct region to develop. One map focuses on cratered highlands and the other on a northern lava plain, changing tile placement and geography. Each map introduces its own set of milestones and awards, altering strategic objectives and scoring. Players still play project cards, place tiles, and manage resources while adapting to the new board layouts and region-specific opportunities.

Can I place Noctis City or volcanic-area tiles anywhere on Utopia Planitia?
Yes. Utopia Planitia has no Noctis region or volcanoes, so Noctis City and tiles normally restricted to volcanic areas may be placed on any non-reserved area. (Rulebook, p. 1)
What happens when I settle the Viking 2 or Beagle 2 landing site on Utopia Planitia?
You gain 2 extra cards for settling either prestigious landing site. (Rulebook, p. 1)
Can I place Lava Flows on Terra Cimmeria, and where?
Yes, but only in one of the four volcanic areas: Albor Tholus, Tyrrhenus Mons, Hadriacus Mons, or Apollinaris Mons. (Rulebook, p. 1)
Can I place Noctis City anywhere on Terra Cimmeria?
Yes. Terra Cimmeria has no Noctis region, so Noctis City may be placed without its usual placement restriction. (Rulebook, p. 1)
What does the Curiosity rover location do on Terra Cimmeria?
Placing a tile at the Curiosity rover location near Gale crater places a colony for 5 M€. Ignore this bonus if you are not playing with Colonies. (Rulebook, p. 1)
What are the new milestones on these maps?
Utopia Planitia’s milestones are Manager, Pioneer, Trader, Metallurgist, and Researcher; Terra Cimmeria’s are Planetologist, Architect, Coastguard, Forester, and Fundraiser. Their requirements are listed on page 1 of the rulebook, so use the milestone set belonging to the map you are playing on. (Rulebook, p. 1)
