Thunder At Dawn: The Battle of Wilson's Creek (August 10, 1861)

Two-player regimental-scale wargame simulating the August 10, 1861 engagement near Springfield, Missouri. One side commands Union forces while the other controls Confederate forces, including two separate rebel commands with differing objectives. Players move regimental counters on a large hex map, resolve combat with dice, and manage limited intelligence and logistical constraints. The game uses a blind chit-pull activation system to model fog of war, friction, and unexpected events; chits determine the order and timing of unit activations and force players to adapt their plans. Scenarios include the historical order of battle and a “what if” option that lets the Union player try alternate tactics.
