Wellington's Victory: Battle of Waterloo Game – June 18th, 1815

A grand-tactical simulation of the 18 June 1815 battle near Brussels, played on four map sections that reproduce contour levels, farms, woods, roads and key positions such as Hougomont and La Haye Sainte. Players command more than 500 historical French, Prussian and Anglo-Dutch units identified by battalion/brigade/division labels and numerical strength, maneuvering by hexes (100 yards per hex) with 15-minute turns. Play emphasizes chain-of-command activation, reserve commitment, formation and facing changes (line, column, square, skirmish), cavalry charges, rallying routed units, and artillery and small-arms fire. Combat separates fire and shock resolution with tables that reflect formation, terrain, strength and unit quality; losses are tracked directly on the map and morale effects are represented by unit effectiveness ratings.
