x-Chess: the First Mutant

A chess variant played on a smaller 5×6 board with a reduced starting army and a fairy piece. Each side has five Pawns, two Rooks, two Archbishops, and one King, with no Queens, Bishops, or Knights. Archbishops move as Bishops or Knights. Castling, two-step Pawn moves, and en passant are not allowed. Pawns promote only to higher pieces already captured by the opponent, and the first player to checkmate wins.
