Arquebus: Men of Iron Volume IV – The Battles for Northern Italy 1495-1544

A tactical wargame that recreates eight major battles in Northern Italy from 1495–1544, illustrating the shift from pike-and-cavalry dominance to growing arquebus firepower and more open formations. Players command period units—men-at-arms, pike, arquebusiers, Landsknechts and cavalry—maneuvering on detailed maps while resolving combat with die rolls and era-specific mechanics that track closed vs. open formations and differences in weapon types. Scenarios range from short, compact battles to a large, full-map action, emphasizing maneuver, formation management, and the evolving interaction of firepower and shock troops.
