BattleCON: Trials of Indines

A tactical head-to-head fighting game featuring a roster of ten distinct characters drawn from a shared fantasy setting. Players choose a character and resolve one-on-one duels using card-driven attacks, counters, and positional choices that interact to form combos and read opponents. Each character uses a unique set of abilities and playstyle, and matches focus on predicting opponent actions, managing resources, and timing special moves to control the flow of combat. The box provides a compact, mechanically varied introduction to the broader game world and its character interactions.

The best 1vs1 fighting game I've tried. A fantastic, simple system with incredible depth. THIS SPECIFIC BOX (TRIALS) - 10 characters, with most of them being fairly simple. A great way to get started in BattleCON. - Its standard edition comes with tuckboxes (older boxes do not). - You'll probably need to expand the roster if you're into the game. PROS - With a really simple ruleset, it creates incredible interactions between its characters. - Every character feels absolutely unique. Some of them may be similar, but they'll have a distinctive feature that differenciates them. - There is a character in a BattleCON box that feels like it was designed for you. Maybe more than one! - The game is really tense: it really feels like a fight. Predicting your opponent's moves correctly is incredibly satisfying. CONS - Some details may be difficult to grasp for new players (while the 4th edition will make the game and its graphic design much more straighforward). - It cannot be played at its best until each player knows their character and their opponent's character. You won't experience it correctly by playing it from time to time with random opponents.
