Fate of Cthulhu

Players portray time-traveling operatives from a bleak future and their present-day allies who try to prevent an apocalyptic return of eldritch beings. Play centers on undertaking missions across changing timelines: characters alter key events, face ripple effects and paradoxes, and attempt to steer history away from doom. Mechanical emphasis falls on corruption, which tracks how exposure to the Great Old Ones warps characters and grants monstrous abilities; a Fate Core–based conflict and stress system with options for heroic last stands; and a rituals-and-spells subsystem that treats magic as dangerous, costly Elder technology to be discovered and used sparingly.
