Players act as shelter staff who intake dogs, complete training cards, and place tiles to build matching patterns. Gameplay mixes tile placement, set collection, and drafting as players draft dogs into their care, work through training objectives, and pair pets with suitable families. The game includes a solo mode and an advanced player-board option for added challenge, with the highest reputation total determining the winner.
