Players take the roles of emergency room doctors tasked with stabilizing and treating incoming patients with mysterious medical conditions. Each case gives symptoms, medical history and an electronic medical record; players examine information, run tests, consult specialists and choose treatments while time advances. Play proceeds cooperatively as the team gathers clues, narrows diagnostic possibilities using research sheets and treatment outcomes, and scores points for correct decisions and patient survival. A guided tutorial case teaches the flow and mechanics; four main patient files offer varying difficulty and require timely, coordinated action to uncover underlying causes before the night ends.
