Carcassonne Big Box 6

Build a medieval landscape by placing square tiles to form cities, roads, cloisters and fields. Place follower meeples on features to claim them and score points as those features complete. Includes map-altering additions and multiple small expansions that add new tiles, special scoring pieces and variant actions—such as inns and cathedrals that change scoring, a trader/builder mechanic, river-start layouts, and assorted mini-expansions that introduce items like flying machines, ferries, gold mines and other special tiles. Supports variable player interaction through tile placement and meeple deployment across the included base game and expansion content.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Do placed tiles have to match roads, cities, and fields on every touching edge?

Yes — every edge of a newly placed tile must match the terrain (road, city, or field) of every adjacent tile; you may not leave mismatched edges (Rulebook, p.3).

Can I put a meeple on a road/city/monastery if an opponent already has a meeple on that feature?

No — you may only place a meeple on a feature if that specific connected feature has no meeple of any player; separate, unconnected features are allowed (Rulebook, p.3–4).

When do we score a road, city, or monastery and return meeples?

Score and return meeples immediately when a feature is completed: roads and cities are scored at the moment they are closed, and monasteries when fully surrounded by tiles (Rulebook, p.3–5).

How do farmers score at the end of the game?

Farmers are scored only at game end: each completed city touching a farmer’s field scores the farmer points as described in final scoring (Rulebook, p.6).

If a road has an Inn or a city has a Cathedral, what happens if that feature is unfinished at game end?

If a road with an Inn or a city with a Cathedral is not completed by game end it scores zero points instead of partial points; when completed normally they simply increase the feature’s value (Expansion "Inns & Cathedrals", p.2).

How does the builder from Traders & Builders give an extra turn?

When you have the builder in a road or city and you place a tile that extends that same feature, you immediately get to draw and place one more tile (the builder’s extra turn) before play passes (Expansion "Traders & Builders", p.3–4).
